Since 2016, the Fort McMurray team has been raising funds for the United Way through employee donations, various fundraising events (bake sales, raffles, online auction, etc.) along with support from CEDACares.
CEDA hosted its 6th Annual CEDACares Silent Auction in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). From May 7-14, CEDA employees bid on 260 items to raise $28,200! The funds raised through this initiative went to a worthy and important cause, supporting programs for Canadian mental health.
CEDA hosted its 5th Annual CEDACares Silent Auction in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). From May 1-8, CEDA employees bid on 169 items to raise $32,531! With this year’s auction aligning with the 66th Annual CHMA’s Mental Health Week, it not only gave CEDA the opportunity to support a cause of great importance to its employees, but also opened up the conversation about mental health.
On June 13, CEDA donated $125,000 to the Northern Lights Health Foundation in support of the Gratitude Campaign Minimally Invasive Surgical (MIS) Suites project. The campaign is a comprehensive fundraising initiative aimed to improve the health care system in the Wood Buffalo region and to ensure everyone in the community has access to first-class health care facilities.
On Sunday, October 4, CEDA employees in Calgary, Edmonton and Fort McMurray participated in the 24th annual CIBC Run for the Cure benefiting the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Through employee fundraising efforts, $1,570 was raised in support of breast cancer research, education and early diagnosis.
On Thursday, September 17, CEDA brought in My Safe Work founder, Rob Ellis to speak to CEDA and Imperial Oil employees in Sarnia, Ontario about safety and reaching an injury-free record. During the event, employees also signed the Jersey of Courage committing to living and working safely.
In early 2015, CEDA began working in coordination with local Aboriginal communities to recruit individuals interested in earning their Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s licenses.
CALGARY, AB – Applying a PhD in neuroscience to a business environment is not common, but for CEDA, it was the starting point of an innovative and unique relationship with the University of Calgary’s Hotchkiss Brain Institute (HBI). CEDA is the first company to offer business internships to PhD neuroscience candidates looking to gain mentorship and work experience outside of academia.

On Tuesday, May 26, 2015 CEDA sponsored a youth in the workplace safety presentation panel at Greenall High School in Balgonie, Saskatchewan. During the two-hour session, Rob Ellis, founder of My Safe Work, spoke with approximately 600 students discussing safe practices in the workplace, the right to refuse work and the workplace accident that took his son's life.
From May 4th to May 8th, CEDA hosted its third annual CEDACares Silent Auction with proceeds supporting the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). In support of the 64th Annual Mental Health Week, CEDA employees spent the week bidding on over 100 donated items. The auction raised $38,565 with $28,565 raised from employee contributions and an additional $10,000 donated directly from CEDA.
On Sunday, October 5th, CEDA employees across Alberta put on their pink to show their support for the fight against Breast Cancer. With 68 participants across three locations this year, the CEDACares team was stronger than ever, raising almost $19,000!
For the second year in a row, CEDA held a silent auction to raise funds for a Canadian organization. This year, CEDA raised more than $30,000 for the Canadian Mental Health Association. New items were included in the online silent auction this year, including a variety of experiences donated by our executives.
CEDA is a proud gold member of the Coalition for a Safer Highway 63 and 881. This month, the Coalition is releasing a new campaign developed by CEDA’s Director of Transportation Safety called, “The Pledge.”
CEDA was pleased to donate a night at our Rexall Place Sky Box in Edmonton to the Kids Forever Foundation Auction held last month. The Kids Forever Foundation started over 14 years ago to help families with sick children in the local Fort McMurray region.
This past weekend, groups of CEDA employees in Edmonton and Calgary, joined Team CEDACares to help the fight against Breast Cancer. Although it was a brisk morning, once the teams started to walk and run in the 2013 CIBC Run for the Cure, participants warmed up and wore their hot pink shirts with pride.
The devastation from the Southern Alberta flooding affected many of our CEDA employees and community members. CEDACares acted quickly and looked for ways to help support our communities during a time of need.
