Labourers & Operators

Joining CEDA as a Labourer or Operator means never a dull moment. In these roles, you will perform a wide variety of jobs using basic mechanical skills and will assist in operating and maintaining industrial cleaning equipment such as vacuum trucks, high pressure water equipment and various specialty tools.

You will also be provided with opportunities to grow your career from an entry level position up to a senior level position. As a complete industrial services provider, we’re always looking to hire seasonal, temporary and full-time Labourers and Operators across our locations.

What to Expect:

  • Varying shift schedules and work locations
  • On-call work
  • Long days and night shifts
  • Work in all elements
  • Confined spaces or heights (role dependent)  


Mobile Workforce

Our Mobile Workforce is for those who like flexibility in their schedules. We encourage work-life balance by offering temporary and seasonal work in different locations across Canada on a recurring basis. As one of CEDA’s Labourers or Operators, you will assist in operating and maintaining industrial cleaning equipment such as vacuum trucks, high pressure water equipment and various specialty tools.

We offer competitive wages, comprehensive incentives such as flights and overtime and opportunities for advancement and training in different roles.

  • Turnaround events can last anywhere from 3 to 12 weeks, busiest in the spring and fall
  • 6 on x 1 off - day and night shifts
  • 10 to 12 hour days

Tailings Management & Environmental Solutions

Our Tailings Management & Environmental Solutions teams are dedicated to delivering turnkey services around the clock. We hire full-time and seasonal dredging Labourers and Operators to work with a fleet of modern and versatile equipment designed to enhance removal and transfer of liquid or solid sludge as well as highly compacted underwater materials.

In these roles, you will perform a wide variety of jobs using basic construction skills and operating power equipment. As well, you will be required to manipulate valves, rig in/out diesel pumps, operate dredges and diesel/electric pumps, skid steer, as well as clean, prepare and maintain construction equipment or components.

What to Expect:

  • Season runs from February to October
  • 14 on x 7 off - day and night shifts
  • Up to 12+ hour days not including travel time
  • On-call work as required
  • Housing in Fort McMurray is required. Transportation to and from site is provided.

At CEDA, our HSE professionals embody our ‘You See It, You Own It’ philosophy. Our HSE team provides assistance to internal and external customers and actively supports the ongoing development and implementation of CEDA’s Health, Safety & Environmental Management Program with the goal of zero loss.

CAREERS: The Next Generation

careers-logo-tng.pngCEDA has partnered with CAREERS: The Next Generation, an organization that encourages and empowers students to explore their career paths, helps facilitate these connections and matches suitable student apprentices to available internships. CAREERS pre-screens students based on their academic records, attendance, application and attitude, and then suggests interviews with the students they believe would be the best fit for CEDA.

Through our partnership with CAREERS, CEDA annually participates in the following programs:

  • Registered Apprenticeship Program - The Registered Apprentice Program (RAP) is an Alberta Education initiative that allows students to earn high school credit, wages and hours towards their apprenticeship training, while still in high school.
  • CO-OP Apprenticeship Program - If accepted into the CO-OP Apprenticeship Program, recent high school graduates in the Fort McMurray/Wood Buffalo and Medicine Hat area can gain up to four years of apprenticeship in any trade recognized in Alberta.


Women Building Futures

As a sponsor of this program, CEDA provides work placements to HET apprentices.
