Community is important to CEDA and our people. It’s where we live, where we do business, where we work and where we play.
We are committed to contributing to our communities by supporting healthy change and development.
We take pride in our interactions with our communities and desire to build and strengthen long-term relationships with local community members including local businesses, community organizations and Indigenous groups.
As a service provider, we know it’s important to both our employees and our clients that we positively contribute to our communities. We engage our employees to ensure our support is going to the causes that are most important to them.
As a result, we established CEDACares and our four pillars of giving.
The CEDACares Community Giving Program encourages CEDA and our employees to come together to make a difference.
Building relationships with our charitable partners in the local communities.
Supporting our employees in the charitable giving they do by promoting and contributing to their fundraisers.
Our employees donating their time and skills to projects and events that build stronger local communities.
CEDA proudly supports the following:
CEDA has been a major sponsor of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). Through employee organized auctions, CEDA has proudly raised over $100,000 for the CMHA to support and improve positive mental health in all aspects of daily life.
During the 2013 southern Alberta floods, CEDA supported the incredible efforts of the Canadian Red Cross. CEDA helped the people of Alberta by matching employee donations to the Canadian Red Cross, fundraising a total of $23,000. In 2016, CEDA supported the Red Cross again during the Fort McMurray Wildfires by pledging $50,000 with our employees raising an additional $9,500.
CEDA has been a coalition member since 2010 and actively supports the coalition’s work to educate and raise awareness about dangerous driving habits and provide safe alternatives. These efforts will ultimately help reduce the number of fatalities on Alberta’s most dangerous stretches of highway, of which many CEDA employees drive daily.
CEDA contributes to the Keyano College Foundation through its Annual Giving Program. The Keyano College Foundation plays a critical role in Fort McMurray by generating much needed funding and responding to the needs of students, industry and the region.
CEDA is a proud supporter of Lakeland College. On a yearly basis, CEDA funds two Student Achievement Awards for students who demonstrate leadership skills, involvement in their community and academic excellence.
The CEDA Al Redhead Memorial Bursary was created in 2008 and continues to be a memorial dedicated to Al who was a Heavy Duty Mechanic at our Edmonton location. This bursary is available to students entering the Industrial Heavy Equipment Technology Program at NAIT.
Since 1997, CEDA has supported the Northern Lights Health Foundation with gifts totaling over $500,000 to equipment campaigns, annual fundraisers and in-memoriam gifts.
CEDA made a 10-year, $500,000 commitment to SAIT and the School of Manufacturing and Automation in 2013. The funds contribute to enhancing the culture of safety and developing new simulation technology within the service trade programs.
CEDA is proud to support the United Way Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo. Through various fundraising events, we have raised over $120,000 to help the United Way provide lasting social change in three focus areas: overcoming poverty, helping kids succeed and building strong communities.
CEDA has partnered with Women Building Futures (WBF) on their Pathway to Apprenticeship Program that provides students the practical and academic training required to become a Heavy Equipment Technician (HET). As a sponsor of this program, CEDA provides work placements to HET apprentices.
